Ms Emma Humphrey Melbourne Tutor in Biology, Calculus, Chemistry, Computing, Creative Writing, English, English Literature, Essay Writing, French, Geography,... (see below for full list of subjects and levels)

Through my experience teaching over the last half decade, I have learnt that every student has a distinct learning style and requires a tailored teaching method to match. With each of my students, I strive to create an encouraging and supporting environment that caters to the student whilst also giving opportunities to push beyond their academic limits. By providing perspective on their studies, I hope to inspire my students and ultimately motivate them outside of the lesson for academic success.

In addition to my experience tutoring, I finished year 12 only two years ago with a perfect score. Because the memory of studying for school is so close to me, I have perspective on the emotional struggle all VCE students go through. From this experience, I am able to offer advice as well as a contemporary perspective on the syllabus. When I am teaching, I frequently encourage students to explain material back to me in their own words as if they were teaching the material to me. This helps the student fully understand the content and also help me identify gaps in their knowledge. This is a teaching technique from the famous physicist Richard Feynman- which I used to develop my own understanding of maths and science.

Physics and maths are the strong areas in my teaching as I am currently studying them at university, however, I also studied History, French, Biology, Chemistry and English all through high school with high results and happy to contribute in any other academic areas.

I frequently like to update parents on the progress of their child in the course and how they are coping with the material I am teaching them. As students may not feel comfortable voicing their feedback to me I also ask that you talk to your children about how they feel about the sessions.

I have a very flexible schedule so I am available most afternoons from 3.15pm during the week.

I hope this gives you a full understanding of what I do and feel free to get in contact with me anytime!
