(4 student reviews)

Hi, I am an experienced tutor and I like to share my more then 25 years professional experience in in a range of fields to help students improve. I
have a record of success in helping people achieve their goals. I primarily offer tuition in Psychology, Research Methods, Statistics, Research Report and Essay Writing, Data Analysis (up to 4th year depending upon your course specialty, although I sometimes tutor at Masters level, depending on course).

I am most familiar tutoring courses from University of Queensland, QUT, Griffith, ACU, UNE, and University of Southern Queensland although have some background and training from other institutions in Australia and overseas. I also offer some tutoring in economics, maths, GIS, computer science, and database design - although only in specific subjects and lower year-levels. Please enquire with your specific course code and I can confirm whether I can assist.
My main areas of tutoring are: Statistical theory and application
Psychology research methods
Research reports and theses
Social psychology
Reviewing and editing reports and essays
Survey design, administration and testing
Statistical data management
Applied statistics for economics, psychology, business, ecology and other fields
Statistical software - mainly SPSS, R (incuding Commander) and Stata but also and SAS, analysis and scripting
Programming, design and databases

I can also provide advice and tutoring on specific courses upon request. I am preparing tutorial materials which I will provide to students.

I am available in person (8am-8pm); or online or phone between 8am to 10pm most days - by arrangement of course. I offer face to face (or Skype) training by arrangement. I would prefer that you can travel to me or to a location close to South Brisbane but I may be able to travel reasonable distances, especially if on bus or train from CBD. Please bear in mind travel costs may be added to the fee. Travel cost depend on time to get to appointments.

Please only call to arrange advance appointments during daytime hours and I am unable to give last minute assistance except to existing clients. I work out of hours for existing clients but please don't call out of hours and necessarily expect an immediate response as I may not be available.

I tailor and prepare classes individually. Length of each session can vary between short phone call to a few hours. I prefer no more than 3 hours in any one session. This stretches both student's and my mental resources.

I can provide worksheets as required. However I usually work with the materials you have been supplied and provide additional materials on request. This is because of the variety of approaches and methods used by different schools.

Note that my hourly rate does not include preparation and follow-up work. This is usually charged at the same rate as face-to-face but may be negotiated.

I have studied Psychology at UQ and USQ so am very familiar with their course content but if you can provide workbooks, lecture information when I meet you I can cover any 1st-4th year coursework. I also have familiarity with psychology course content from many other Australian universities.

I also have degrees in Mathematics, Economics, Computer Science and partially in Biostatistics

I also offer tutoring in data analysis, Geographic Information Systems, web mapping, programming (especially .NET, Java, SQL, C), modelling etc. I have experience in proprietary and open source software.

Important notice to students (and research clients).

I offer tutorial and research services, not assignment writing services (there are other so-called tutors who will do that for you). I only tutor students on the basis that you understand academic ethics and integrity, and any related professional codes. The responsibility of academic success depends solely on your student's work. I can help and advise from my experience and past success but you need to put the work in. However, I am part of a professional relationship and as a tutor I can assist with understanding theory, concepts, interpretation, examples etc. I can help you perform better and have usually been able to help students to better themselves. Please do not ask or expect me to do assignments for you in case you take offence at refusal. Please bear in mind that in relation to any tutoring related to psychological or health research I am bound by the APS, NHMRC, ARC and UA ethical codes. This is a professional relationship and as such each party has the right to terminate with reasons that relationship at any stage if it is not working out.

I have 4 years experience tutoring psychology, research methods and statistics at
1st, 2nd, 3rd and 4th year level.

I have tutored statistics and research methods for maths students, economics
students, psychology students and social sciences.

I have 3 years experience tutoring GIS and programming at tertiary and
professional level as well as many years training experience in the field

I have 2 years experience tutoring high school mathematics.

I have over 10 years professional training experience to a range of clients.

I have additional 25 years professional experience working in a range of fields,
scientific research, data analysis, systems analysis, software analysis and
development , policy research, psychology research etc.

Rates vary between $60(student) up to $200 per hour negotiable for commercial
clients. Rates also depend upon type of work, level of tuition, whether it is academic,
commercial, or consulting work, and whether it is for groups or individuals.

Rates will be agreed upon after discussing the nature of the work. For example
assisting with analysis for a research report that is going to be used commercially
has a higher rate than basic tutoring work.

All rates are open for negotiation, especially if you require many hours of tuition
(discount for many hours). Rates also depend on location of tuition. Phone or Skype
or tuition at my home is cheaper than if I have to travel to see you but that is
negotiable too.

The introductory hour is offered at a discounted rate($10 discount). There is also a
discount for a larger number of hours. I also offer discounts for genuinely unwaged.

I offer customized tuition courses, price negotiated for each client separately.

Rates may also vary depending upon travel or whether there is a group. If I have to
travel a long way there may be a travel surcharge. If there is a group rates would be

Rates include all time used in session (online, phone or face to face).
Additional preparation time may be charged upon arrangement with the student. I
usually charge prep. time at about half the rate of tuition time.

Please note commercial rates apply to any assignment performed in a commercial
context. I have had people doing commercial assignments claiming to be students
to get the cheaper rate. I also know that commercial organisations use students to
get cheap labour. In this case commercial rates also apply. If you are a business or
working on a project for a commercial business, even if you are student, then
commercial rates apply. I am happy to negotiate these rates on a job by job basis
but my commercial rate is between $80 and $150 per hour (negotiable)

Student Discount

Special Offer - I maybe able to offer discounted rates for unwaged or low waged students
